Creating a Healthy Family Outreach Details

Seminar as Outreach

The seminar Creating A Healthy Family is the means we use to re-parent people and transform relationships. The BWGI Ministries Ministry Team has worked with numbers of churches, guiding them through the process of presenting this as an outreach to their surrounding communities. We consult with each church on how to promote the outreach through TV, radio, and newspaper advertisements. Bill Lauer, a full-time media strategist, helps with the creation and selection of effective advertising. On the evening of the actual outreach, Dr. David Eckman presents a three-hour lecture explaining how a dysfunctional family background negatively affects adult functioning. Using his own experience as an example, he presents a strategy for short-term intervention and long-term change.

The strategy for change includes three major elements:

Acceptance of the Gospel, so one can be re-parented by God.
Involvement in a small group for 7 weeks to break the social isolation that exists within dysfunctional families.
Studying the material in Creating a Healthy Family, so one can begin to grasp the new family relationships.

Typically 30% to 40% of those present at the outreach, including non-believers, are eager to join a small group. Our lecturers and counselors will train the small group facilitators from the churches in how to happily and effectively lead the groups. Counselors will be available immediately after the seminar. Over a seven-week period many religious people from the community hear the Gospel clearly explained repeatedly and believe in Christ; the indifferent non-believer who joined the groups to receive help in personal relationships ends up open to the Gospel and frequently converts.

Seminar Fees and Financing

The booking fee for the seminar for the church is $800 USA. We prefer to work with a group of churches so the benefit for the community can be maximized. When a group of churches have agreed to participate in an outreach we then work on a common advertising budget with the churches.

There is no fee for the attendee, but if the person chooses to join a small group, the workbook Creating a Healthy Family must be purchased ($12 each).
