The material Becoming What God Intended has radically impacted my spiritual life.  Specifically, it has empowered me to live by faith in the Spirit because of a grace-oriented relationship in Christ that frees me from a performance oriented righteousness.  Because of my complete acceptance and identity in Christ, there is true freedom of an authentic, loving relationship with our Heavenly Father.  Not only do I know this in my mind, but I am now joyfully experiencing this in my heart.

As a professor of the Old Testament at Western Seminary and a pastor for many years, this biblical truth of a new found identity in Christ has changed my teaching and pastoral ministry.  To help students realize and joyfully experience their complete acceptance and identity in Christ has become the core of my teaching ministry.  In teaching and preaching to Asian-American students and Christians, I have found that the Becoming What God Intended material has struck at the heart of their guilt, worth, and shame.  For many in the Asian culture, performance and achievement is a daily pressure, but now their new identity in Christ has given them freedom from cultural and personal emotional pressures.  As my wife and family prepare for a teaching ministry in Singapore, we are excited and burdened to teach the biblical truths found in Becoming What God Intended.
